Martins are incredible aerialists, and it is amazing to see them fly through the air twisting and turning to capture the flying insects that are the primary source of their diet.  As you can imagine, an extended period of cold rainy days which make it difficult for the insects, also put the martins at risk.

Lighter tone female martin.difficult to distinguish from juvenile male. Both have brownish body. Subadult male has blotches of dark feather on breast, subadult female has all white feathers under tail.
